We are abiding by ordnances given to us by our local child care representatives as well as our local governments to participate in the effort to keep our communities as safe as possible. Q. WHAT IS THE SCHOOL DOING TO PREPARE FOR A LOCAL OUTBREAK?
KLA Schools continues to stay committed to protecting the safety and well-being of the children, your families and our staff. We are diligently watching the development of the Coronavirus and following recommendations by the Department of Health, Center for Disease Control, and World Health Organization to stay up to date on the most current information. We are abiding by ordnances given to us by our local child care representatives as well as our local governments to participate in the effort to keep our communities as safe as possible.Q. WHAT STEPS HAS THE SCHOOL TAKEN?
We have a number of protocols to protect against the spread of infectious illnesses that we do every day – and even more so during flu season. Given the risks associated with Coronavirus, we want you to know that we are extra vigilant and have increased our efforts around safety, hygiene, and particularly infection control. We have implemented strategic daily disinfection of high-touch surfaces, focusing on abundant supplies for hygiene, and frequent disinfecting and preventative cleaning. We have raised a heightened staff awareness and diligence in sanitary practices. Steps Taken: 1. Incorporating additional hand sanitizing/washing protocols throughout the day. 2. Trained our cleaning crew and teachers to emphasize focus on cleaning all ‘high-touch’ surfaces multiple times each day. This includes counters, tabletops, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, tablets, toys, touch screens, light switches, thermostats, and railings. 3. Deep cleaning in all of our schools. 4. Additional signage has been installed in the restrooms encouraging proper hand washing. 5. Speaking to children about the importance of proper handwashing and hygiene.Q. WHAT SHOULD PARENTS DO?
Parents, it is crucial that you are enrolled in all of our communication systems and that we have all of your updated contact information. The school will be sending important updates on school closures and learning resources. You can encourage your child to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by teaching them to do the same things everyone should do to stay healthy. The following are CDC recommendations that we are implementing, and we ask for you to as well, in an effort to reduce the spread of respiratory disease:- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- If you are sick, stay home. (If your child has been sent home for illness, they will not be permitted to return without a doctor’s note and fever free without medication for 24 hours).
- Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then dispose of the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
- Monitor your symptoms.
- Launder items including washable plush toys as appropriate in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. If possible, launder items using the warmest appropriate water setting for the items and dry items completely. Dirty laundry from an ill person can be washed with other people’s items.
Q. WHAT IF MY CHILD BECOMES ILL?
If you or any member of your family have any symptoms of illness, including fever, coughing or sneezing, please reconsider entering our facilities – please contact the school for support during drop off or pick up periods. We understand it may be hard to temporarily accommodate this request, but if you feel under the weather, we appreciate your support in keeping KLA Schools a safe place for everyone. Anyone that fits the following criteria will be not be allowed entry into our schools:- Has a temperature of 100.4°F or above.
- Signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as a cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, and low-grade fever.
- In the previous 14 days has had contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19; is under investigation for COVID-19; or is ill with a respiratory illness.
- In the previous 14 days has travelled internationally to countries or domestically to states or counties with widespread, sustained community transmission.

Some of our schools have closed their doors, but the teachers are working from home to provide families with continued support. Please check your email daily as we will be sending learning resources for your child. We would love to see photos of students participating in their remote learning experiences!
